Slack is one of our favourites and we use it daily at Helium. Available as a desktop and phone app, It’s a messaging tool that allows you to organize your team conversations in open channels. You can make a channel for a project,a topic, a team, or anything. Everyone has a transparent view of all that’s going on. For sensitive information you can create private channels and invite a few team members. To reach a colleague directly, you can send them a Direct Message. It’s completely private and secure. File sharing is also easy with Slack.
What we love the most about Slack is that communication is quick and easy within a team and also less formal that emails. You don’t have to wait for a particular person to be free to get an answer a question. Multiple people get the message so queries are resolved quickly. It also significantly reduces the amount of internal emails which increases productivity.
Want to improve communication within your team and improve efficiency?
We couldn’t do without Asana. It’s the preeminent web-based team workflow management tool on the market and it handles the nitty-gritty of task management with aplomb. We use it to keep track of all our regular client to-dos so nothing is missed and it also gives our team a more-productive place than email to ask questions about a task and to follow the status of jobs.
Asana’s beauty is reflected in the fact it can be used by businesses in almost any industry. It is one of the best collaboration and productivity apps for teams and we highly recommend it.

With over 500 million users worldwide Dropbox is synonymous with cloud storage. We couldn’t do without it at Helium. So why is cloud storage and in particular Dropbox so great you ask?
First of all you can store and access all of your electronic files on your computer as per normal but your files are also automatically backed up in the cloud so if your computer has a meltdown or it’s stolen, your files are safe in Dropbox and can be restored in a snap.
You can share data files easily with whomever you choose. Gone are the days of trying to email big data files. You simply email the person a link to the file or share the folder with them if they have a Dropbox account.
You can access your files from any computer by simply bringing up a web browser and logging into Dropbox.
You can access your files on your phone or tablet via a Dropbox app easily downloaded onto your phone.
Files updated, saved or dropped into Dropbox folders are automatically synchronised across all computers, phones and tablets connected to the same account.
Security surrounding you data is solid. Your files are encrypted on the Dropbox servers with 256-bit AES encryption, and the data is protected with 128-bit encryption during the upload and download process.
